" What Even Is Alter Race? "
Alter race is a term for the belief that alters can have a different race to the body’s race. There is no known coiner, as the word spread around a lot.Alter race examples includes an alter claiming to be black in innerworld, when they are not bodily black, or introjects using a closed cultured name from their source, despite not being bodily part of the culture.Back!
" Why Is It An Issue? "
There are multiple issues surrounding alter race. While it is completely possible to have alters have different skin tones or have pseudo-memories of being a different race or ethnicity, claiming to be said race or ethnicity is not okay.It is racist to claim to be a race you bodily are not. You will never know what it is like to be another race but your own. You will never experience the same discrimination another race has been through. Everyone should know race and ethnicity have far more to them than having a certain skin tone.This has become an increasing issue in system places, it needs to be stopped.Back!

Remember when I said pseudo-memories? I understand you may have those memories, but you must understand that those memories are pseudo, also known as fake. You are no longer there, you are here.
" It's just a name, stop being dramatic. "
A name you decided to take from a closed culture and use as an aesthetic. A name with years of history and culture packed into it, where others have been mocked, shamed, isolated, and oppressed for using them. Multiple people have stated multiple times they are not okay with people using their culture's names. Maybe listen to POC for once.
" I don't care, I'm still gonna do _ . "
I know I can't stop you, but please take one minute to not be so closed-minded. It's not hard to change a name or not claim to be a race you aren't.Back!
